How It Began

The Sunshine Gift Box idea began when my sister, Sally, was going through treatment for
breast cancer in 2003.  I wanted to be with her to give support and encouragement, but I
lived 750 miles away.  One day I had an idea to give a gift that would keep on
giving...something she could open any time she needed a smile or a "pick-me-up" in her
day.  Sally loved sunflowers and would sing "You Are My Sunshine" to her son so I named
the gift a "Sunshine Box".  She loved her gift box and said it brightened many of her days.
Sadly, Sally lost her battle with cancer in 2006.

Since moving to Alabama, I have continued to give Sunshine Gift Boxes as a way of carrying
on her legacy of caring and kindness.  Every box created is carefully done with thoughts of
who might be receiving it.
